Honda Unicorn

Honda set foot on the Indian bike market with the legendary Honda Unicorn. With 150cc engine and mono-suspension, it was the first of its kind in India. In one word, it can be summed up as ‘The Smart 150cc Bike.’
The bike is fantastic both in performance as well as aesthetic value. It is a perfect fusion of sporty and macho design. With features like swift acceleration, superior mileage, international styling, riding comfort and convenience, the bike has made some benchmarks in Indian automotive industry.

Engine
Unicorn comes loaded with a 4 stroke, Single Cylinder, Air Cooled engine with a displacement of 149.1 cc which produces maximum power of 13.3 Bhp at 8000 rpm (9.9 KW). Maximum torque of 12.8 Nm (1.3 Kg-m) is produced at 5500 rpm. It has a 5 speed gearbox which is regarded as one of the most slick gear boxes and the clutch feel is like hot knife on butter. It is considered as the fastest motorcycle racing from 0-60 kms per hour in a mere 5 seconds in its class.

Design And Comfort
Unicorn is a good blend of sporty and conventional style and the bike comes in different fabulous paints. The clear lens halogen works perfectly and looks like as that of Karizma. The Unicorn's three-pod dials is voted for the best set in the country so far. A massive speedometer is fixed at the center and a sporty tachometer on the left. But it does not own a trip gauge. The squat fuel tank feels flatter and looks smart with a rounded chrome cap. It's one of the few bikes in the country with knee recesses which fit all leg shapes. The well shaped lockable seat offers adequate room both for the rider and the pillion. The aluminium footrests are buffed to a satin finish and a cut above the rest. The silencer adds further glint value to the Unicorn, with its large chrome shroud. Unicorn is designed and engineered to quench the thirst of style-hungry young bikers. It has a distinctive sporty and macho design with a racy front face, masculine fuel tank with knee grip and a sleek rear cowl.

TVS Apache RTR 160

Apache RTR 160 (Racing Throttle Response) is a machine with 15.2 bhp engine and it comes with a slew of first-time features showing its high performance enhanced by the TVS racing technology. This bike really shows the aggression to pit against its rivals. The attractions of Apache RTR-160 cc are the handling ability, ride quality, seating position, adjustable handle bars and the longer wheelbase. The previous flaws of the Apache 150 have been ironed out. The New Apachi RTR 160cc is available in two variants - kick start and self start.

Engine
RTR-160 Apachi employs a smooth, powerful and an improved engine over the Apache 150. The engine remains smooth without any significant vibrations till 5000 rpm and it is an oversquare 160 cc compared to the earlier 150 cc square engine. There is an increase in maximum power from its earlier 13.5 bhp to 15 bhp, the highest in the 150-cc segment. The new Apache has undergone major changes to up capacity from 147.5 cc to 159.7 cc. RTR uses short-stroke for quicker revving. This air-cooled and twin-valve unit has received several internal tweaks, including inlet and exhaust ends, clutch and gear processes as well as the combustion chamber. The gearbox remains a five-speed unit, with one-down and four-up shifting pattern.

Design And Comfort
The stripe which runs from the front mudguard to the tank and finally to the tailpiece is the striking feature. RTR160 has a 270-mm petal shaped front disc. The engine has been given an all black treatment along with alloys and exhaust. A small engine guard is nestled at the bottom of the engine. The side panels have a matt black plastic finish. The bike also sports a digital speedometer. The tail lamp has bright LEDs. A split grab rail, clip on adjustable handlebars, aluminum finished brake levers and the toe operated gear shifter are all enticing features. The wheelbase has been stretched to 1300 mm from the earlier 1260 mm. It also features standard tachometer, clock, trip meter, fuel gauge odometer and the aircraft-style fuel cap. Apachi RTR-160 cc looks smashing and is definitely one of the best looking bikes in the country.

Ride And Handling
Apache RTR 160 has rear set foot pegs. The low handle bars translate into a very comfortable riding position. Compared to the earlier version, the new Apache gives a more comfortable riding position. It is a great bike to zip through the busy city traffic without any discomfort. It sports disc brake in the front which is phenomenal and drum in the rear which is a welcome addition. The handling of the bike gives an amazing feeling with all the improved features.

Mileage
Apache delivers a on-road mileage of 45-52 km/litre.

Hero Honda Hunk

Engine
The engine of this bike is similar to that of the CBZ Xtreme. But some features have been added to give more efficiency to the engine. The air-cooled four stroke engine of the Hunk is supercharged with 14.4Ps @ 8500rpm and has a torque of 12.80 Nm @ 6500 RPM. Hunk's 150cc engine has a conventional 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces tumble induction for efficiency.

Design And Comfort
Hero Honda Hunk owns a small fairing. The tank shrouds are big and it has good knee recess. It adopts golden telescopic fork akin to some popular international bikes. The bike sports a contemporary black theme - the handlebar weight, alloy wheels, silencer guard and the grab rail are painted black. Front suspension is through telescopic fork and the rear suspension is a 5-step adjustable gas charged one. Fuel gauge, speedometer and rpm meter are analogue. However contemporary pilot lamps and LED tail lamps fail to find a place in the new Hunk.

Ride And Handling
The engine of the Hunk stays cool even if the bike is ridden for a considerable length of time. The bike is also good in terms of speed handling. The riding position of the Hunk is good with raised handlebars and neatly placed foot pegs. The innovative gas-charged rear suspension gives a fantastic ride comfort as well. Additionally, the cushioned seats of Hunk model are extremely comfortable for long distance ride. The front seat is separated by a step from the pillion seat, making pillion riding comfortable.

Mileage
The bike can produce a mileage of 45 to 50 km/litre
